Books to Feed Your Soul & Giveaway

I read a ton of fiction. I inhale novels. By July, I’d read something like sixty according to the list I keep on Goodreads. Now I find myself in a season of inhaling non-fiction, feeding my soul in a different way. Today I thought it would be fun to share some of those with you, while also having a link at the end for a giveaway of Tricia Goyer’s Walk It Out.

One book that I am savoring is Holley Gerth’s just released Fiercehearted. The chapters are bite-sized, perfect for devotions, and I’m actually changing it into a journal. At the end of each chapter, I’m writing prayers about what I want God to do in my life as a result of what I’m reading. The writing is lyrical and honest. I love it!

Another book I’m savoring is Tricia Goyer’s Walk it Out. This book is challenging — in a good way — about not just reading the Bible but actually doing what God says. Tricia and her family have done this literally by living James 1:27. This is a book I want to lead as a study at church so I can discuss the application and make sure I don’t run by it with a checkmark because I’ve read the last page.

Mark Batterson has a new book, Whisper, releasing in a week as well. I  have two of his books on audio and am constantly challenged by the content whenever it pops up on my feed. Last night it was about loving God with our whole heart and what it means to live with compassion. Each book I’ve read has challenged me to dream bigger with God. I can’t wait to dive into this one and learn more about how to hear God’s voice. I don’t know about you, but it’s something I need desperately.

There are more books on my spiritual TBR pile, but these are speaking to my soul. What are you reading?

  2. I just started Soul Detox by Craig Groeschel. It appears to be an easy read… with a very challenging context. Thanks for posting the books you are currently or about to start. I am always looking for recommendations 🙂

  3. I’m working through the Disciple’s Prayer Life Bible study workbook right now. I had gotten it back in 2011, and started it, but quickly got distracted by other study books. But I’ve pulled it back out now to be intentional about increasing knowledge on prayer and how to better apply it to my life. I want my prayer life to be rich and growing and fulfilling, and I’m praying this book will be a blessing on that front.
