Today I want to tell you about two really good romantic suspense novels I’ve read this winter. If you love romantic suspense, these are must read novels to add to your pile.

Thin Ice by Irene Hannon is an intriguing story that weaves the world of Olympic figure skating with the now of a woman who’s life seems to be spiraling out of control. Christy Reed’s parents died a couple years ago, her sister a few months ago, and now someone seems to be targeting her. The problem is she has absolutely no idea who. Now FBI Special Agent Lance McGregor has to decide whether she’s crazy or something sinister is happening that only he can help her untangle. The pacing is intense with just enough breaks to let the reader breathe. The romance and sparks are present, but strike the balance of keeping each other interested without taking over the suspense thread. This book does follow the premise that the hero and heroine have to keep each other at arm’s length until after the investigation closes. I know that makes sense from a let’s get the case taken care of first mindset and the realities of the job.

Irene Hannon is one of my go-to romantic suspense authors, andThin Ice lives up to my expectations of a page-turning suspense that will keep me guessing for the most part. This one had enough twists to keep me from knowing who the stalker was by the middle of the book. That is a definite win!

In Always Watching Lynette Eason has crafted a romantic suspense that literally sprints from the first page to the last. This book is packed with adrenaline, twists, and enough questions to keep the most stalwart suspense fan turning the pages. Olivia Edwards is a bodyguard who’s assignment has just become Wade Savage when his prior bodyguard was critically wounded. His stalker is upping the stakes and there are serious questions about whether Olivia and her team will be able to keep Wade and his daughter safe. This looks like a typical stalker case, but as the layers are peeled back it becomes  so much more. Add in the hint of a romance that blossoms as the case progresses, and it is a very satisfying read. I also loved the surrounding cast of characters and knowing that many of them will reappear in future books.

Always Watching is the first in a new series, and Lynette truly gets better with each book. I always think the last one I read was the best…until the next one arrives. Be prepared to disappear for the hours it takes to read this novel. It’s that good!
