About the Book

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16Evelyn is done with promises.

Talk is cheap,” Evelyn Happ declares. Her fiance broke up with her days before their scheduled wedding, and her father seems to specialize in breaking promises. So, in the midst of World War Two, when the Navy WAVES give her a chance to get out of Washington, DC, and contribute to the war effort, Evelyn can’t leave fast enough.

Mark Miller isn’t thrilled when the WAVES arrive to work on the navy’s top secret project in Dayton, Ohio. He figures the distraction they cause doesn’t justify the assistance they provide. That is until a certain beautiful ensign starts offering suggestions that may provide the breakthrough the engineers need to succeed in their mission.

When the actions of a spy put both Evelyn and Mark under suspicion, will the investigation make their relationship another casualty of war, or will it bring the birth of the true promise of love?

Author’s Notes for A Promise Born

I really didn’t know much about Ohio during World War Two when I started researching ideas. I had a grand total of one idea (a child evacuated to Ohio) and that doesn’t make a three-book series. So I spent one week poking around the internet, looking at all kinds of local historical society websites praying for the right ideas and inspiration.

Then I landed in Dayton.

Little did I know that a little company (National Cash Register Company) had the second most top secret project of World War II, second only to the Manhattan project. The perfect hook and story! A top secret project. WAVES. And even a possible spy. I was in heaven!

To learn more about the Bombes and the project in Dayton, I’d start here.
