Just a few days ago we were in Nebraska with my family for a quick Christmas trip that was extended a day thanks to the White Christmas we all wanted. That White Christmas shut down the interstate around us and got us an extra day of game playing and fun with cousins. One of the conversations we had several times …
Daily Reminders to Pray
I left part of my heart in Germany.
And I began to pray almost immediately about whether we could do something like that again. It was a dream, but a backburner dream. After all, God had already done the impossible once.
What’s Your Dream for 2017?
As I start 2017, I’ve been prayerfully considering what the dream for this year is. I’m all about having a word, but I’m also about having a dream. Two years ago it was selling my legal suspense series. Check. Last year it was about teaching in Italy over the summer. Check. Teach full-time at Purdue. Check.
These are those crazy, audacious dreams that God has graciously granted. But now I’m wondering…what’s next.
What if Our Dreams Came True
I’m just back from living a dream — spending a month in Italy. Hard work, but a dream. For ten years, I worked toward the dream of writing for one editor at one house. I’ve had the great privilege of writing many books for many wonderful editors, but there was a special click when I met this particular editor at our …
A Happy Ramble… not the kind you think!
I’ve always longed to travel, dreamed of it. And every once in awhile, God sends an opportunity my way that just makes me smile. The first week of this month, I was in York, England for a professional conference. Eric and I had a direct flight in and out of Edinburgh (Hugely less expensive) so added a couple days to …
5 Ways to Breath Life into Your Child’s Dreams
A year ago my oldest daughter and I spent about twenty hours helping out at a gymnastics meet. Yes, you’re reading that right. Twenty hours. The competing girls were all levels 3 & 4s. For many of them it was their first state competition. And their dreams were coming true. This weekend our 11 year old competed in his first gymnastics …
Gifts with a Purpose: Part 2
I’m so delighted to have Wendy Bird back for a second day to share her heart and vision for Pearls with Purpose. I love to find gifts that allow me to help someone else…gifts that have a purpose beyond the gift giving. I feel like I’ve found that with Pearls with a Purpose. Be sure to read to the end …
Gifts with a Purpose: Part 1
Maybe you’ve caught the buzz about giving gifts with a purpose. As Mother’s Day barrels down on us, I’ve been on the lookout for gifts that make a difference. Maybe you’ve noticed that WalMart has carried a line of cards and products from Full Circle Exchange. (Mom, close your eyes!) Several women in my life are getting their cards because …
3 Steps to Finding the Grace to Chase a Dream
Once there was a fourteen-year-old who quickly realized her favorite authors simply could not write books fast enough. Because she was young, she decided she could write books, too. Her mother smiled and allowed her to write as part of her English. Slowly two novels grew on an old computer, paragraph by paragraph, page by page. She loved creating ideas, …
3 Steps to Sharing Your God-Sized Dream Story
I am a story girl. I love to learn about the ways God has moved in other people’s lives. That often comes through story. In fact, one of the classes I’m taking right now has reinforced just how much of a story girl I am. In this class we have a standard textbook, but we also had to read a …
