The Red Door Inn is a story of broken people desperate to find a place. It is a story of finding family in unusual places, and finding out who you are when everything has been taken from you. It is a story of coming to a place of healing when you’ve been shattered and wonder how you could ever be put back together. There’s a thread of romance, and a setting so exquisite I long to go visit: Prince Edward Island.
Fiction Friday: Change of Heart and If I Run
There are so many great Christian fiction novels releasing this spring that my TBR pile is exploding! I consider this an explosion of wonderfulness since a Cara without a new book to read is a pretty unhappy Cara. Anyone else feel that way about good books? I’ve read some really fun ones and want to share the joy, so be …
Fiction Friday: Always Watching & Thin Ice
Today I want to tell you about two really good romantic suspense novels I’ve read this winter. If you love romantic suspense, these are must read novels to add to your pile. Thin Ice by Irene Hannon is an intriguing story that weaves the world of Olympic figure skating with the now of a woman who’s life seems to be …
Fiction Friday: Kissed by a Cowboy
It’s Fiction Friday, and today I want to tell you about my friend Debra Clopton’s book Kissed by a Cowboy. I know I had many of you with the word Kiss or the word Cowboy. Add the adorable cover and you’re probably already sold. This is a story of second chances and finding romance when you’ve given up on the …
Fiction Friday: Keeper of the Stars
Her latest novel, Keeper of the Stars transports the reader to idyllic King’s Meadow in Idaho. This time, the story focuses on Penny Cartwright who’s life was upended when her brother is killed in a car accident. There is so much left unsaid between them that she transfers her grief and guilt to the man who was the reason her brother was driving. Trevor Reynolds doesn’t know why, but he is compelled to keep a promise to his dying drummer Brad Cartwright. He finds himself in King’s Meadow, not exactly sure what he should do or why. Rodney Cartwright isn’t sure either, but he’s willing to be a part of whatever God has in mind.
Fiction Friday: Beyond the Silence
Beyond the Silence is a really enjoyable read, and I recommend it for those who love a historical set in the late 1800s and who appreciate a romance with a good mystery/suspense thread.
Fiction Friday: Mermaid Moon
I have loved Colleen Coble’s books for a long time. She writes gripping romantic mysteries that pull me deep into the setting and the characters’ worlds. There is always so much going on that it keeps me engaged in the writing. I think Mermaid Moon is Colleen’s best book to date. Mallory left home 15 years and hasn’t looked back…until her father …
The Bronte Plot: perfect weekend read
There are certain authors who just have a way of telling a story that is soothing and lyrical while also pulling you so deeply into the story that you are completely embedded within the world. In The Bronte Plot from award-winning author Katherine Reay, Lucy Alling loves old books. But she almost loves them too much, because she creates stories …
Fiction Friday: At Love’s Bidding
I know you’re thinking: “It’s not Friday, Cara.” Oh, so true. But I actually took a break over Christmas, and want to share this book with you now 😉 I’ve got a giveaway and the author has a great giveaway that ends TODAY. Hence the Fiction Friday post, that’s really a Fiction Tuesday post. Some books arrive, and I can’t wait …
