In our hourse we’re preparing for the kids to return to school and for me to return to face-to-face classes at Purdue. We all came home in mid-March, and I’d say we’re largely ready to see what the fall has in store. This year has been the year of Flexible Chaos, and I’m certain it’s not over yet! How are …
Week 7: What’s your gateway?
And I’m struggling. I want to live the life of freedom that I know God has called me to and created me for, but as I look at all the newness and uncertainty, freedom is the last thing on my mind. Instead, I feel an entirely new set of expectations, constraints and pressures. Rereading chapter seven couldn’t have come at a more important time.
Summer Bookclub: Week 5: Wild and Good
This week we’ve had some major announcements in our world. Good, but really challenging for me personally. My husband will be switching jobs next month, and God in His graciousness made it so clear to us collectively that this change was a step of obedience. But the change is pushing against all of my fears and inadequacies. It involves a change into one of the things I said I could never do or be. I am so careful to never (pun intended) say things like that anymore, but it doesn’t change the fact that this change pushes against my deepest fears and insecurities.
Summer Bookclub: week 4: the God of Freedom
Chapter four focuses on the fact that God is a God of freedom. Yet we tend to live lives that are small and scared. One reason is that we don’t know what to do with grace. While this chapter includes many important ideas, I’ll focus on God’s extravagance and the older brother in the Prodigal Son parable. I can’t wait to hear what impacted you as you read.
It’s a Summer Bookclub
Last week I finished listening to Wild & Free by Jess Connolly and Hayley Morgan. It’s a book I want to dive deeper into and when I mentioned that on Facebook many of you wanted to dive deeper, too. So here we go. It’s been a few years since we’ve done a study together. If you’ve never done with me, these are really low key. We’ll read a chapter or two a week depending on the length of those particular chapters. Then I’ll write a post designed to get us thinking and talking about what was covered.
