Dangerous Passage: ripped from the headlines romantic suspense

Dangerous Passage is a romantic suspense that could be ripped from some of the saddest headlines. Human trafficking serves as the story hook — a story that I would love to ignore but know is all too real. 27 million people around the world are trapped in some form of slavery…a tragedy we can’t ignore and the author brings into a fresh spotlight. Read to the end for a giveaway of this book!

Avery North is a homicide detective raising a daughter on her own. When one of the victims is a young Vietnamese girl not much older than her daughter, the case becomes even more personal. She is also a woman torn between a demanding career, mothering, family, and wondering whether she should pursue a relationship with Jackson Bryant. The plot is fully layered as Avery wrestles with challenges in each area of her life. She’s confronted with whether she’s willing to release her control and move forward or remain trapped where she is — not necessarily a bad place, but is she willing to risk more and accept more people tugging at her?

The story has a lot happening…almost too much…but that’s how life goes these days. Avery’s faith questions are real, her imperfections welcome, and her committed search for the killer admirable. I really enjoyed this novel and look forward to the author’s next!

I enjoyed this book so much, I’ve got a copy to giveaway.

  1. This sounds like a good story! I learned quite a bit about human trafficking awhile back when my son became involved with a Christian independent film featuring this subject. One thing I found intriguing was the connections to abortion, the attitudes regarding women (especially in Southeast Asia ) and the dilemma caused by China’s One Child policy. It is also shocking to realize just how prevalent this is in our own country!

  2. I look forward to reading this book.It is on a subject very dear to my heart. A young couple that are good friends with my daughters are new missionaries to Indonesia where they are ministering to those affected by the human trafficking business. They are rescuing the young girls, ministering to their families and even hoping to reach out to the men who operate these awful businesses so that they have the opportunity to hear the gospel as well. I’m glad more people, like Lisa Harris, are helping to raise awareness about this heartbreaking of this tragedy.

  3. What intrigues me is the relevance to current events. It sounds like a good way to make people aware of the problem. And I love suspense and romance together. 🙂

  4. The fact that this story COULD be real is what both intrigues and horrifies me. In recent months, I’ve begun to realize just how serious the problem of human trafficking truly is. While it’s not a fun topic, I’m thankful there are people who are working to raise awareness and make a difference.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  5. I’ve read quite a few of Lisa’s books and enjoyed them. What intrigues me about this subject is how much it is going on all around us and we don’t ‘see’ it. The statistics are staggering!

  6. Human Trafficking is something that most of the rest of the world is quite familiar with yet for many Americans, they are still very ignorant of it going on right in their backyards. A subject that is heartbreaking especially as a parent of four. I’m happy that Lisa is bringing more light to that heartbreaking plight with her book.

  7. Hi Cara!
Love your website. Red’s my favorite color. Also, love romantic suspense although I usually write mine from the historical perspective. Human trafficking is something I’ll be exploring in one of my future historical novels. Such a heart-wrenching topic. This is one I will have to read.
